The Developing SEC

Development Versions of each SEC Section are available to aid SEC Parties in understanding how the SEC is developing in between the designation of new versions of the SEC.

These show live content alongside any content that has been concluded on by BEIS but not yet designated by the Secretary of State (SoS). They also include text that is still undergoing consultation and has not yet been concluded on. The table at the beginning of each document provides a history of how each Section has evolved over time, with  links to consultation and decision documentation.

You can find each Development Version of the SEC Sections under the documents section on this page.

Please note, these documents are provided for reference only as the content in these Development Versions may differ from what is formally designated.

Non GBCS Non Mandated Alerts (NGNM)

Device Alerts are unsolicited messages sent by Devices to DCC Users e.g. the Supplier. GBCS defines the structure of the Alerts and contains a listing of Alerts, distinguishing between mandated and non-mandated Alerts.

GBCS Parse software allows any new non-mandated alerts of the right format (as specified by GBCS) sent by Devices to be passed to the DCC User. These new non-mandated Alerts are captured temporarily in the below ‘Non-GBCS-Non-Mandated-Alerts-Register’ until they are adopted by the SEC:

Non GBCS Non Mandated Alerts Register

Suppliers and manufacturers have a general (but non regulatory) responsibility to ensure all Alerts supported by their Devices beyond those specified in the SEC are captured in the ‘Non-GBCS-Non-Mandated-Alerts-Register’ until they are adopted by the SEC.

The form and process to raise a new NGNM Alert Code can be accessed using the below Excel Workbook:
