SEC v32.0 implemented to clarify Electricity Smart Meter and Gas Smart Meter definitions in SEC Section A

An updated version of the SEC came into effect today, 22 January 2021, to implement a modification to SEC Section A ‘Definitions and Interpretation’ made by the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS).

Changes to the definitions of Electricity Smart Meter and Gas Smart Meter in the Section A have been made to clarify that Smart Metering Equipment Technical Specifications 1 (SMETS1) Meters installed after the Installation Validity Period (IVP) Date are treated as Electricity and Gas Smart Meters under the SEC.

 

Other Licence changes

The Secretary of State has also made changes to the following Licences:

  • Standard Conditions of Electricity and Gas Supply Licenses
  • Standard Conditions of Electricity Distribution Licences
  • Standard Conditions of Gas Transporters Licences
  • The Smart Meter Communication Licences
