SEC v28.0 implemented to support the DCC SMETS1 service

An updated version of the SEC came into effect on 4 December 2020 to implement a Designation by the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS). This is to support the Data Communications Company (DCC) Smart Metering Equipment Technical Specifications (SMETS) 1 service. Amendments have been made to SEC Appendix AM ‘SMETS1 Supporting Requirements’ (S1SR).

The amendments included changes to Clause 18 of the S1SR to describe Device specific behaviours for Initial Operating Capability (IOC) Aclara Devices related to a workaround for Devices with Auxiliary Load Control functionality. Additionally, amendments have been made to describe Device specific behaviours for Middle Operating Capability (MOC) Secure Devices

SMETS1 EPCL 8 Approval Decision

Today, 4 December 2020, BEIS also approved the addition of the next Device Model Combinations (DMCs) to the SMETS1 Eligible Product Combination List (EPCL) following EPCL Report 8. The BEIS SMETS1 EPCL 8 Approval Decision can be found here.
