SEC Panel Election 2023: Membership Update

The 2023 SEC Panel election has now concluded, thank you to all Parties who participated in the nominations and voting processes.

The incoming members are as follows:

Large Supplier Parties

There were three nominations for this seat. The successful candidate was Ralph Baxter, who will be taking on a third consecutive term on the Panel. Ralph brings considerable experience to this role, his background spans energy and information technology, both commercial and operational, technical, and regulatory environments.

Other SEC Parties

There were three nominations for this seat. The successful candidate was Michael Snowden of Secure Meters. Michael brings 20 years’ experience in Smart Meeting and sits on several SEC Sub Committees. Michael wishes to bring innovation and to ensure new services are better supported to ensure the current and future SEC and DCC services better meet User needs.

Small Supplier Parties:

There was one nomination for this seat, Carolyn Burns of ESG Global will be the new Small Supplier representative on the Panel. Carolyn has worked in the Energy Industry since 1997 and has been heavily involved in the Smart Meter roll out over the last 9 years. Carolyn participates in several SEC Sub Committees and looks forward to driving the SEC forward to deliver future initiatives.

Gas Network Operators:

There was one nomination for this seat, Martin Shannon of Cadent Gas will be the new Gas Network Operator representative on the Panel. Martin has worked in the Commercial gas industry for 24 years across several commercial roles. Martin rolled out Cadent’s Smart Metering Installation programme and has recently been leading in developing the Hydrogen business model and business case for Hydrogen conversion to decarbonise industry and domestic heat.

The first Panel meeting with new membership will be on Tuesday 26 September. Thank you to those of you who participated, by nominating a candidate or voting. SECAS would like to thank outgoing members, Karen Lee and Alastair Cobb for their contribution to the Panel over the years.
