BEIS Consultation on consequential changes following confirmation of the new post-2020 policy framework

17 September 2020

In June 2020 the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS) confirmed that a new smart metering policy framework would apply from July 2021. BEIS has considered whether consequential changes are needed in light of the new policy framework.

On 17 September, BEIS published a consultation on proposed amendments to energy suppliers’ licence conditions and the Smart Energy Code to account for SMETS1 meters installed after the SMETS1 end-date, proposed amendments to energy network operators’ licence conditions relating to provision of information to the Secretary of State, and a proposed clarificatory change to energy suppliers’ licence conditions regarding the Standalone Auxiliary Proportional Controller provisions which were consulted on earlier in the year.

The consultation letter and accompanying annexes can be found here.
