SEC v114.0 came into effect today, 5 June 2025.
After having been laid before Parliament in accordance with the requirements of Section 89 of the Energy Act 2008, on 15 May 2025, the Minister signed into effect SEC changes that provide for SECCo to be able to establish (subject to the approval of the Secretary of State) a subsidiary that could seek to become the successor holder of the Smart Meter Communication Licences.
Changes to SEC Section A ‘Definitions and Interpretations’, SEC Section C ‘Governance’ and SEC Schedule 4 ‘SECCo’ were made to support this change.
