Ahead of the full implementation of the Performance Assurance Framework (PAF), the SEC will undertake a time-limited Proof of Concept (PoC) phase, followed by a Pilot, to test the framework in practice. This PoC phase will enable the PAF processes, artefacts, and selected Performance Assurance Techniques (PATs) to be applied to a defined, real-world issue, in order to refine and validate their effectiveness prior to wider, business-as-usual implementation.
The consultation on the PAF artefacts is due to commence on 16 March 2026, subject to PAB’s approval on 11 March 2026. To support the consultation, the SEC Performance Assurance (SEC PA) will host a webinar on 18 March 2026, 10 – 11am.
The webinar will introduce the PoC approach, outline how assurance activity will operate during the PoC phase, and explain how industry stakeholders can engage with the consultation. The consultation window will run for three weeks and provides an opportunity for Parties and other stakeholders to review and provide feedback on the draft PAF artefacts, including:
- Risk Evaluation Methodology (REM) – setting out how SEC Risks are identified, assessed, and prioritised in a consistent and evidence-based manner.
- Performance Assurance Risk Register (PARR) – capturing identified risks, their assessment, and the rationale for assurance activity.
- Performance Assurance Operating Plan (PAOP) – describing how assurance activity and PATs will be applied over the PoC period.
- Performance Assurance Techniques (PATs) – outlining the tools available to manage, monitor and address SEC Risks, including how and when they may be applied.
The session will also provide an opportunity to ask questions and understand how consultation feedback will be considered in refining the PAF ahead of its full implementation.
