On 16 September 2025, the Change Sub-Committee agreed for this modification to enter the Refinement Process. SECAS will work with the DCC and the Proposer to develop Business Requirements before presenting the modification to the Technical and Business Architecture Sub-Committee (TABASC) and the Operations Group (OPSG).

What is the issue?

Electricity Network Operators (ENOs) carry out network alterations both at a consumer premise level as well as at the low voltage level that could lead to incorrect polarity for consumers. When incorrect polarity is detected, remedial action should be taken as soon as possible. ENOs currently have limited means of proactively detecting polarity issues after carrying out network alterations.

What is the solution?

Three Supplier Alerts – 0x81B8 ‘Incorrect Polarity’, 0x81B7 ‘Incorrect phase sequencing’ and 0x81BB ‘Reverse Current’ – could provide ENOs the necessary Data to determine whether there are any issues, allowing them to act sooner and more efficiently. These Alerts are currently only available to Suppliers, but the potential solution would look at allowing ENO visibility of the Alerts as well.
