Latest update
The DCC Preliminary Assessment has been returned, SECAS and the Proposer are reviewing it. SECAS will present the modification to the Working Group on 5 June 2024.
What is the issue?
Smart Energy Code (SEC) Appendix AD ‘DCC User Interface Specification’ (DUIS) confirms that all Future Dated Requests for Smart Metering Equipment Technical Specifications (SMETS) 1 Devices are held by the DCC and released accordingly to meet their specified date. This means that even if a User sends a Service Request (SR) in advance of the execution date, these requests are held at the Data Service Provider (DSP) and released once the execution date and time of the request is due. Whilst there is existing functionality within DCC systems to control the rate at which these requests are released, Supplier behaviour seen by the DCC is to send the requests as on-demand requests.
What is the solution?
The Proposer would like to allow Users to send Future Dated Service Requests to SMETS1 Devices without being held at the DSP. They believe that by sending these Service Requests in advance of events, for example Price Change events, it would help to smooth the peak usage on the DCC system and reduce likelihood of incidents.
Who is impacted?
