On 06 July 2023, the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero issued a Government Response to its consultation of 7 February 2023 on the minimum installation requirements for of the current smart metering system rollout framework.

On the 11 July following consideration of stakeholder responses, DESNZ has published its conclusions and has laid the regulatory changes to the main body of the SEC before Parliament, in line with the procedure under Section 88 of the Energy Act 2008.
