SEC v26.0 implemented to support the DCC SMETS1 service

24 November 2020

An updated version of the SEC came into effect on 24 November 2020 to implement a Designation by the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS). This is to support the Data Communications Company’s (DCC’s) Smart Metering Equipment Technical Specifications (SMETS) 1 service.

The BEIS designation letter and accompanying annexes which include the redlining can be found here.

SMETS1 PPMID firmware updates

Changes have been made to support the update of firmware for Initial Operating Capability (IOC) and Middle Operating Capability (MOC) SMETS1 Prepayment Interface Devices (PPMIDs) so that if issues are encountered in production, the PPMID software can be updated remotely without disruption to the consumer.

Secure Device-specific S1SR changes

Changes have been made to SEC Appendix AM ‘SMETS1 Supporting Requirements’ (S1SR) to describe Device specific behaviours for MOC Secure Devices. These changes also define the configuration requirements specific to Devices that are planned to be enrolled into the DCC’s network.
