An updated version of the SEC came into effect on 24 July 2020 to implement a designation by the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS). This is to support the Data Communications Company (DCC) Smart Metering Equipment Specifications 1 (SMETS1) service.

- SEC Appendix AM ‘SMETS1 Supporting Requirements’
