Consultation on changing the end date of Secretary of State Transitional Variations

16 October 2017

There are currently Secretary of State (SoS) Transitional Variations (TVs) in place in relation to the:

  • use of Multiple User Identifiers (EUI-64 IDs);
  • provision of information on the Self-Service Interface (SSI); and
  • aspects of SEC Appendix L – Smart Metering Key Infrastructure (SMKI) Recovery Procedure.

These current TVs will end on 2nd November 2017. Following discussions between the DCC and BEIS, a request was raised at the October 2017 Panel meeting for the Panel to consult on changes to these TVs end dates, to enable BEIS to then make a final decision on the proposed changes. The Panel agree to consult on changing the end dates of Secretary of State directed Transitional Variations.

The proposed changes to the end dates are summarised below:

  •  Use of Multiple User Identifiers (EUI-64) IDs – amend the Transitional Variation end date from 2nd November 2017 to 5th November 2017or such subsequent date specified by the Secretary of State.
  • Self-Service Interface (SSI) functionality – amend the Transitional Variation end date from 2nd November 2017 to 5th November 2017 or such subsequent date specified by the Secretary of State.
  • Aspects of SEC Appendix L – Smart Metering Key Infrastructure (SMKI) Recovery Procedure – amend the Transitional Variation end date from 2nd November 2017 to 29th April 2018 or such subsequent date specified by the Secretary of State.

Further details on each Transitional Variation and the rationale for changing the end-dates of them is set out in the consultation document. Please consider this consultation and indicate whether you support the proposed Transitional Variation changes.
