BEIS information on Supplier licence changes

19 July 2022

On the 18 July 2022, changes to Energy Supplier licences were made. On 19 July 2022 these changes came into force after being laid before Parliament for 40 days in accordance with the requirements of Section 89 of the 2008 Energy Act. Background to the changes and the documents laid before Parliament can be found here.

The changes include:

  • Changes to the Targets Framework Churn Adjustment, amendments to the formula used to derive energy Suppliers’ annual Smart Meter installation requirements.
  • Changes to the Non-Domestic Smart Meter Consumer Data Offer: this entitles Non-Domestic energy customers with Smart Meters (e.g., businesses and public sector sites) to greater access to their Smart Meter energy consumption data from their energy Supplier.
